Meet the Team
About Marlin Muylaert
Prior to bringing the Made in the Shade franchise to the Durham region, Marlin spent the majority of his career as a head hockey coach at the collegiate level. His coaching career included 11 years with the University of Guelph Gryphons and 7 years with the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks. About Anne Ottenbrite-Muylaert
Durham region residents and all Canadians will certainly remember Anne Ottenbrite, who in 1984 became Canada’s first and only female Olympic Swimming Gold Medalist with her thrilling win in the women’s 200M Breaststroke. Anne followed that accomplishment with a silver medal in the 100M Breaststroke and a bronze medal with the Women’s relay team. When not coaching the Pickering Swim Club, Anne keeps our Made in the Shade Durham office operating with the behind-the-scenes excellence that you deserve.
About Melissa Margaret
Made in the Shade Durham is pleased to welcome Melissa Margaret as the very first addition to their team. Melissa grew up in Durham Region in a house built by her parents and knew by the age of 12 that her passion for Interior Design had to be explored. After graduating from Humber College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Interior Design Melissa worked for a year in the industry before deciding to launch out on her own and begin her own business.
Melissa believes that design is not merely about placing furniture in a space or choosing colors for walls. She believes it is about making what you are looking at matter. Creating spaces that define you as a person with no explanation necessary. And Melissa understands the importance of integrating the right window covering into a design space. Made in the Shade Durham is very pleased to have someone of Melissa’s talents join our team and we welcome her to the family.
